The Coachella Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) will have a school board meeting tomorrow, May 11, at the district office located at 87225 Church Street in Thermal, Ca. The meeting is viewable over zoom, and the agenda is available on the CVUSD website.
Of special interest to the community, is the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) presentation and draft. The LCAP is required by State law and is the road map for how the district will spend funds. Peruse both the draft and the presentation for insights as to what the district spends money on.
For instance, CVUSD will spend over $5 million on “Socio-emotional counseling” and “Transformational Model program support” under the umbrella of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
Another example in the presentation, is the over $11 million that will go to “socio- emotional skills” (again), Ethnic Studies, and other programs.
The agenda is full of other items as well, including run-of-the-mill approvals for overnight trips for grad night and SkillsUSA.
Looks to be a long one at CVUSD tomorrow night. Use the documents in the agenda to become informed and involved. If you have questions, contact the CVUSD public information officer/Superintendents office… make sure to verify their answers! Readers are more than welcome to chime in the comments section also.
