Brian Hawkins, a candidate for California Congressional seat #41 , was arrested on four felony counts of assault and corporal punishment of a child, yesterday in Lake Elsinore, California. Hawkins, a San Jacinto City Councilman and a local pastor, has a website up for his Ca #41 candidacy.
According to Riverside County Sheriff arrest records, Hawkins was arrested at 4:51 pm at Hibiscus Lane in Lake Elsinore by San Jacinto police, and booked into Southwest Detention Center at 10:04 pm. Hibiscus lane is adjacent to the Canyon Lake Development (private lake residential) in Lake Elsinore , some 24 miles from San Jacinto. The booking information for the Congressional candidate lists two charges of felonious assault with intent to cause great bodily injury, and two charges of corporal punishment/child.
Hawkins previously ran for California #25 as a Republican in 2022, but has since changed his stance on the issues. Councilman Hawkins was seen at a Temecula Valley Unified School Board in March in support of CRT.
Hawkins, the accused, is accorded the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. A court date is set for July 6 at 8 am, though a court is not listed. This story is developing.
